Alina Baker
Program Manager
Alina is one of Elevate’s Program Managers. Born and raised in Downtown San Jose, she received her education in Asian American & Race and Resistance Studies at San Francisco State University. She spent the majority of her time in higher education as a grassroots organizer for Filipino/a/x communities in the Bay Area and abroad, eventually choosing to work in education with an emphasis in culturally responsive, restorative justice teaching practices. Her previous experience as a teacher and an afterschool program manager informs the work she does presently with Elevate fellows and staff. Outside the classroom, Alina has published several works of poetry and continues to read and write in tandem with her work in education. To this day, she continues to mentor youth in their creative writing endeavors and is deeply involved in the San Francisco poetry/creative writing community.
